Curriculum
Na Kahumku's elective leadership course is held during 6th period at Kealakehe Intermediate School.
Our curriculum is divided into four areas of emphasis - the environment, the host culture, leadership & character development, and performance of service to the community.
Eighth Grade Curriculum
Kahumoku is currently only offered to Eighth graders. The primary focus of the curriculum on the eighth grade level is "Ike Honua - Hana Aina". "Ike Honua" means understanding of the planet. Towards this end we do "The story of stuff", (see http://www.storyofstuff.com/) developing insight into how rampant materialism effects the planet. On a local level we study the ancient Hawaiian system of land division and resources management called "Ahupua`a". (see http://www.hawaiihistory.org/)
